Wilderness Committee's Winnipeg field office seeks FT temporary Field Project Coordinator (based on an average of 37.5 hours/week til Sep. 30/11). Successful candidate is responsible for coordinating volunteer expeditions to remote wilderness areas in Manitoba to work on projects that include trail building, community farm work, wilderness & park monitoring, and various community development projects in & near First Nations communities. Includes trips for one to several nights in remote wilderness areas.
Hours are full-time but require much flexibility (working hard for several days at a time in the wilderness and/or the Winnipeg office, then off for a few). A driver?s license is required for this position.
You will be responsible for:
-recruiting, coordinating, overseeing & motivating volunteers
-transporting volunteers to First Nations communities, farms, wilderness areas, & parks to work on Wilderness Committee projects
-First Nations community outreach
-Research & report writing
-Supporting the Manitoba Campaigner with additional tasks as required
-Maintaining knowledge of Wilderness Committee campaign issues
You will be
-certified in First Aid (Level 1 or equivalent)
-experienced and comfortable in the outdoors
-competent at decision-making, problem solving, logistics coordination & interpersonal communications
-an effective communicator with both written & verbal skills along with strong computer skills
-able to work with many different people from various backgrounds & skill sets
-outgoing, friendly, confident, passionate & compassionate in communications with others
-experienced working with volunteers and/or extensive volunteer experience
Salary: $2200/month
