Will ERP fits the ways you do Business

It is extremely important for companies to find out if their method of managing business will fit within generic ERP software before the advance payment is paid to the vendor and before the implementation begins. The most common factor why the companies walks out of ERP implementation despite of spending multimillion on the ERP product is because they later discover that the software does not support one of few of their business processes. At that point, there are 2 things that the companies can do, they may have to do the process reengineering to accommodate the Software, which also means extensive changes in the long-established way of doing business, which eventually also means shaking up roles and responsibilities of important people in the company who had been with the company since ages. OR, they customize the ERP software to fit their process and functions, which generally slow down the project implementation. Also, customization means inviting bugs and errors. Having said that, I don't want to say, Standard programs will not have bugs. Standard programs will also have bugs, likewise porcupine has quills and programs will have a bug, that's life. But, customization would have more bugs and possibilities of instability in the Software.
