On Saturday, July 30th, 2011, volunteers from ORA-Organization for the Rescue of Animals and members of the Hamilton Animal Control - Stop the Killings (HAC-STK) Group are organizing a second peaceful protest rally from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in front of Hamilton City Hall at 71 Main St W (off Bay St) in Hamilton, Ontario. Concerned individuals, rescue groups and local residents are invited to join us in action and voice demands for long-term change as a united collective.
Around 3000 cats and 300 dogs are put down at the high-kill Hamilton Animal Control every year, with little being done to humanely address the city's overpopulation problems and reduce the number of killings. Rally-goers are asking for life-saving, long-term, no-kill alternatives to be implemented immediately, including expanded building hours and rescue time windows, cost efficient trap-neuter-return (TNR) programs, comprehensive low cost spay/neuter and education programs, open adoptions for the public and all rescue groups, and more. The Hamilton Animal Control, with its limited space and finite resources given to them by the City, cannot realistically achieve these kinds of goals without high levels of community support - and that's where we come in!
RALLY DATE: Saturday, July 30, 2011
LOCATION: Hamilton City Hall at 71 Main St W (off Bay St), Hamilton, ON L8P 4Y5
TIME: 11:30 am - 3:30 pm
