Position Overview
Responsible for promoting the importance of health and safety by establishing policies and programs that control risks, prevent losses and provide safe and healthy conditions throughout the companys facilities and work sites.
Essential Job Functions
Preforms complex functions including risk assessments and audits. Observes safety related activities to ensure facilities and worksites are safe and hazard free.
Assists in planning, implementing and administering safety and environmental programs
Promotes the importance of safety in the workplace and continual improvement
Investigates accidents
Preforms job risk analysis, claims and prepares reports.
May conduct on site training
Requirements / Education
NCSO (National Construction Safety Officer) designation
Requires through and comprehensive knowledge of / experience with company policies and procedures and has complete understanding of safety principles, concepts, practices, standards and regulations
College or university degree in the area of Health and Safety with 3-5 years of related experience (oil and gas preferred) or an equivalent combination.
Experience with Certificate of Recognition Program recognized.
Documented experience with Contractor Registry Services
Previous experience in leadership roles
Other Skills / Abilities
Workweeks are 5 days, Monday to Friday, 8 hours per day. Starting at 8am in the morning
The Health and Safety Manager is:
o Frequently exposed to incoming call and inquiries in an office environment
o May be required to work overtime
o Required to travel frequently up to 40% at times
Leadership
Act as direct supervisor to all Health and Safety personnel
May provide functional and technical coaching on day to day activities
Supervision
Works under limited supervision and may require some judgment or assistance with respect to new or unique assignments
Reports to General manager of Operations
